What You Will Learn

Hindustani classical music is the backbone of every good singer. Even students who mainly want to sing Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti or film songs improve quickly with classical training. At Surmandal, we teach it step by step, with patience and individual correction.

Beginner level

• Correct posture, breathing and voice production
• Shuddha and komal swaras, holding a steady sa with the tanpura
• Alankar and paltas for voice flexibility
• Basic taals: Teentaal, Dadra, Kaharwa

Intermediate level

• Introduction to ragas such as Yaman, Bhupali, Bilawal, Khamaj and Kafi
• Sargam geet, lakshan geet and chhota khayal (drut bandish)
• Simple aalap and taan

Advanced level

• Bada khayal (vilambit), bol-aalap and complex taans
• Deeper raga study, plus thumri, dadra and bhajan
• Stage performance and riyaaz planning
